There are two types of jaggery available in the market; Pure-looking pale yellow and another very dark chocolate-like sphere. There is also a difference in the taste of the two. Known as a dark colored natural, organic or native jaggery, this jaggery is slightly moldy and salty while yellow jaggery has more sweetness, so it is non-organic.

Eating jaggery does not cause stomach ailments. People who have problems with gas or acidity must eat jaggery. Eating jaggery on an empty stomach after waking up in the morning improves digestion and also increases appetite.
